Hard Disk Cloning (PCs) [Windows 7 disk's clone]

Cloning a Hard Disk with Windows 7 is not an easy task, but it is possible. The scenario is the following; One 20GB HDD with Windows 7 Ultimate running fine. One 250GB HDD empty. So, we need to put Windows 7 on the faster and biggest disk. To clone the Windows disk we will use Fedora Live CD 11, in fact we will use only the dd command.

• Install the hard disks in the PC.
• Boot the machine with the Live CD.

Open a Terminal to type in, the following commands;
/sbin/fdisk  -l  /dev/myDisk       ;;to check the state and partitions of the disk [optional].
man fdisk ;;to check the options of the fdisk command [optional].

dd if=/dev/smallDisk of=/dev/bigDisk         ;; to copy the smallDisk into the bigDisk

• Shutdown the machine
• Disconnect the smallDisk from the machine
• Boot and reconfigure the boot options to boot from the bigDisk
• Boot the machine …
• Voila!, You have Windows 7 in the bigDisk, but the partition size is incorrect.
• Open the Computer Management and go to Disk Management section
• Right click on the small partition and click “Extend Volume …” follow up the wizard and that’s all.

Now we have a bootable Windows 7 in the bigDisk with all the space we want.

Drilling the land hoping to find gold or diamonds is the every day task of some workers. Trying to drill down at your house or flat and you will probably end in the living room of your neighbor, or with your garden destroyed. Data destruction is what is done in many cases.

To mine gold, it’s needs some help, an intuition, an expert, a well suited scenario to test.

Data mining and knowledge discovery researchers has put big efforts to shift the frontiers of the  “approximation and meta” algorithms (2^n and beyond N^n) to find reliable patterns, please don’t drill your garden.

Certainly In Aberrancy (CIA)

In the Bush administration, some “unconventional” cops and agents worked for the CIA. As is described recently by the special reports, the CIA can turn a rabbit into a terrorist in almost no time (Surpassing Mexican records). This technology gives light to the Bush administration, if we can turn everybody into terrorists, with such technology we can colonize Mars… … or the entire galaxy.

No, its not a breakthrough technology, it’s torture.

The Bush’s and Obama’s administration makes the world rumbles. If some guy delights torturing people, and the other guy wants to drink something with an arrested professor from Harvard. Maybe (and only maybe) the next US president delights nuclear explosions? or it delights new parfumes from human bodies?

Dynamic Network Architecture, next generation networks.

Currently, Internet is a fixed network of protocols, a constrained network architecture that is (almost) safe, deterministic and predictable.

A Dynamic Network Architecture, that is: machines that connects with other machines, has advantages (and cons) like; manageability, privacy preserving, and it grows. The redesign is done dynamically.

The virtual black hole

Imagine that an A.I. can build different encryption methods and dynamic protocols (and links) to preserve your communications, so a black hole appears on the  scanners of the security agencies.

To build a black hole is not easy, but once it is done, it can spread to many hosts. The damage control of such a black hole(s)  in the current fixed and deterministic Internet, will be more difficult than in a Dynamic Network Architecture.

Trying to develop two next gen networks, a military one and a civil one (Internet) is simply a bad investment.

The EM shock and other disasters

With many electronic devices susceptible to electromagnetic damage (by the sun’s EM storms)  and connected to Internet, a DNA can recover faster from a disaster scenario than the current Internet architecture.

How much time it’s needed to reconfigure routers, switches, sub-nets, links, servers, and to tune up web services, users bandwidth, etc… in a disaster scenario?. How much time your business will be down?.

Among the many things that you need to do administratively with your promoting University, there are certain facts that you must consider before embark  in the journey.

Cultural facts: It appears an unimportant consideration, but you must think about it twice. The Culture of some European countries can be hard to you specially if you arrive from America. Some details can impact negatively your performance (and health); stores that close early, the food taste, the living style, the flats, the clothing, etc.

Facts about law enforcement: It is of high importance that you consider the local laws, since if you do some breakthrough research, the applicable laws protects you. If the chosen country has a lack of legislation on the matter of study or if the law (in that country) is applied selectively (in favor of Nationals), think it carefully since you can fall in a ugly situation.

Racism in the department, University or Country: The racism in Europe is raising, fueled by the financial crisis, etc.

• You must consider a country free of racism, that clearly has a deep understanding of the World Cultures and are racism free. Choose a University that has good evidence and tradition of good practices to foreigners.
• Look for how many foreigners has been graduated from your elected department (research group), and in what conditions.
• Look if the foreign and national students obtains equally support and promotion. You can do that through the Curriculum Vitae of the students/professors of the research group where you go.

¿Que pasa en España?

Remember that you want a research department that provides good (equal) oportunities for your career, and you want to earn some money from your research (and not to be victim of plagiarism or racism).

Since the European authorities are making nothing to stop such practices, you need to be very careful when choosing a University/department/advisor.

Some Principals are acting very slow. Specially where Latin-Americans, Asians and Africans are involved. What we can think is   that is a Regional Policy to promote racism, to neglect equal career opportunities to Africans and Latin-Americans, delay the Latin-America, Asian, and Africa development and protect the work-places (in the European Union) from foreigners.
